Taylor West is a strategic communications and business development consultant with nearly two decades of experience in political campaigns, marketing and public relations, and cannabis business and policy. She is a founding partner of Heart + Mind Media, a strategic communications, marketing, and video production agency based in Denver, Colorado.
She currently serves as director of development for New Approach PAC, a primary funder and strategic partner for nearly every successful state cannabis reform ballot initiative since 2012, and director of communications for the Psychedelic Science Funders Collaborative.
West was deputy director of the National Cannabis Industry Association from 2014 to 2017, during which the organization grew from approximately 250 member-businesses to nearly 1,500. She then spent two years helping lead strategy and business development for the cannabis division of Denver-based agency COHN Marketing.
Prior to her work in cannabis, West spent four years in Washington, D.C., where she served as a public affairs strategist for a variety of policy and regulatory reform efforts, and as communications director for National Journal, a highly respected national media organization. She is also a veteran of high-profile political campaigns, including Mark Udall’s 2008 U.S. Senate campaign in Colorado and Tim Kaine’s 2005 gubernatorial campaign in Virginia. West has appeared as a political commentator on MSNBC, Fox News, CNBC, PBS, and NPR.
