Alena Rodriguez
Alena Rodriguez received her B.S. in Biology and M.S. in Biomedical Sciences from Florida Atlantic University. Before joining the cannabis industry, Alena worked in molecular biology, analytical chemistry and neuroscience laboratories. She joined Rm3 Labs in January 2016 where she started by testing microbial samples and developing contaminant testing methods for cannabis products. Then, she served as the Quality Manager and led the lab’s efforts to become ISO 17025 accredited.
In her current position, she manages the lab’s daily operations and works with governmental agencies and stakeholders to advance cannabis regulations. Alena is a panel member on several Colorado marijuana and hemp regulatory workgroups and the Chair of NCIA’s Scientific Advisory Committee. She also works with international consensus standards organizations to create standards for cannabis testing and quality management practices, including ASTM’s D37 Cannabis Committee and AOAC’s Cannabis Analytical Science Program (CASP) microbiology working group.
