Fireside Chats with NCIA’s Government Relations Team: Examining the Outlook for Cannabis Reform in 2021 and Exploring the Best Paths Forward
NCIA’s #IndustryEssentials webinars are our new weekly educational series featuring a variety of programs allowing us to provide you timely, engaging and essential education when you need it most. The Fireside Chat series of NCIA’s #IndustryEssentials webinars are an exclusive opportunity for NCIA members to hear from our government relations team and guests about the latest developments in federal policy.
In the 116th Congress, cannabis policy reform advocates had arguably their most historic session yet. In the House of Representatives, there was the passage of both the SAFE Banking Act, and more recently, both the Marijuana Opportunity, Reinvestment, and Expungement (MORE) Act and the Medical Marijuana Research Act. That’s in addition to appropriations amendments that were passed, and record numbers of hearings and markups on cannabis related bills.
But what does the future hold for cannabis reform in 2021? What should the priorities be? What is achievable within the next year?
Join NCIA’s Director of Government Relations, Michael Correia, and Deputy Director of Public Policy, Rachel Kurtz, for an in-depth discussion recapping our recent successes and looking forward to the opportunities that the next Congress and Biden Administration hold. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to hear from two gentlemen who have worked in the halls of Congress and the Obama Administration themselves! You can expect to learn more about the new Congress, committees of jurisdiction, possibilities we have with various agencies, and of course, the White House.
