Marijuana Packaging & Labeling Training

CCannabisregulatorysolutionsannabis Regulatory Solutions is pleased to announce the offering of a new Colorado Marijuana Packaging and Labeling training program. The program provides regulatory insight to comply with new requirements that go into effect on October 1, 2016. So, now is the opportune time for industry to learn, and to prepare for, the changes on the horizon.

Why Marijuana Packaging and Labeling Are Important: Colorado’s marijuana packaging and labeling rules were established to prevent underage usage of marijuana and the reduction of accidental marijuana consumption by children and others. The State Licensing Authority finds it essential to regulate the lawful sales of marijuana and marijuana products in a packaging that is not easily opened by, or attractive to, children. For example, the rules specifically prohibit packaging designed to appeal to children through the avoidance of the words “candy” or “candies” and images of cartoons. Many packaging and labeling infractions are considered license violations affecting public safety. Penalties for this type of violation may include license suspension, a fine per individual violation, a fine in lieu of suspension of up to $100,000, and/or license revocation depending on the mitigating and aggravating circumstances. Sanctions may also include restrictions on the license. Conversely, adherence to the rules will result in improved public health and safety, and the reduction in regulatory and business risk to due to fewer instances of non-compliance.

Agenda and Course Materials: The training program provides Colorado licensed marijuana businesses with knowledge to meet new Marijuana Packaging and Labeling requirements (most of which are found in the 1000 series of rules). To ensure compliance, participants must also obtain a working understanding of both the Inventory Tracking System and transport rules. The training therefore introduces the requirements of using the Inventory Tracking System, compliance to transport, waste management, and record keeping rules.

Who Should Attend: Medical and Retail Marijuana Business Owners and Licensees, Marijuana Cultivators, Marijuana Product Manufacturers, employees who package and label product, and employees that transport packaged marijuana and marijuana product. Anyone who physically packages and labels marijuana and marijuana products would benefit from attending the course.

Cost: The cost is $329 per person and includes the first year access fees to our Training Resource Center. Thereafter, access fees are $100 per year per company, or $39 per individual. National Cannabis Industry Association (NCIA) Members receive a 20% purchase discount.

Secure Online Store and Training Resource Center: Classroom training materials may be found within our password-protected Training Resource Center. These includes classroom presentations, 14 packaging and labeling compliance checklists, and 19 packaging and labeling regulatory flowcharts. The checklists are suitable for compliance audits. The flowcharts help to remove what is oftentimes confusing regulatory language for better overall understanding. Our secure online system takes the hassles out of record keeping by allowing users to download course materials, test results, certifications, and even course evaluations (if completed).
