Item 9 Labs Corp. Launches Reg A+ Public Offering & Keep Cannabis Local Campaign

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Investors Now Have a Chance to Invest in the First Vertically Integrated U.S. Cannabis Franchise

PHOENIX (March 9, 2022) Item 9 Labs Corp. (OTCQX: INLB)–a vertically integrated cannabis dispensary franchisor and operator that produces premium, award-winning products–announced today the launch of its global, streamlined Regulation A, Tier 2 public offering for unaccredited and accredited investors. Now anyone can become a shareholder in Item 9 Labs Corp., which includes the national dispensary franchise, Unity Rd. and premium, award-winning cannabis brand Item 9 Labs. The Company is offering 28 million Units Each Comprised of One Share and One-Half of One Warrant. Upon the exercise of all warrants, the offering has maximum proceeds of $67.2 million.

With new states continuing to legalize cannabis, the industry is on track to explode – projecting $45 billion in revenue by 2025, a 50 percent increase from 2021*. As large players increasingly dominate the space, the business landscape will become even more challenging for new and independent entrepreneurs. The complexities of operating a cannabis business make it difficult for small, independent dispensaries to understand and stay on top of all the varying regulations and everyday challenges of managing and operating a compliant and successful dispensary.

The Company’s offering is set to accelerate the solution. Promoted under its “Keep Cannabis Local” campaign, this funding round offers the opportunity to invest in cannabis entrepreneurship, keeping the door to cannabis ownership open to industry newcomers and existing operators alike.

“Dispensary ownership is a lucrative opportunity, but it comes with a considerable amount of challenges to navigate,” said Item 9 Labs Corp.’s CEO Andrew Bowden. “The combination of our brands are the solution.”

Unity Rd. shops are rolling out state-by-state, community-by-community, and keeping dispensary ownership in the hands of local entrepreneurs nationwide. The franchise opportunity provides a viable opportunity for industry newcomers and small, locally owned and operated dispensaries to compliantly thrive, thanks to the robust backing and support of a national franchise. Unity Rd. offers direct access to the buying power, resources and supportive network normally reserved for multi-unit cannabis operators – empowering local, independents to confidently run their business.

“Unity Rd. offers one of the safest ways to enter the complex cannabis space with an experienced team guiding the path forward and supporting across all functions of the business,” Bowden added. “Franchising will propel the cannabis industry and keep business ownership in the hands of local owners.”

As the Unity Rd. franchise network expands nationally, the Company plans to bring Item 9 Labs products to the market through corporate development, acquisitions or partnerships with cultivation facilities in states where Unity Rd. franchise partners open cannabis retail shops. This strategic growth plan gives Unity Rd. operators front-of-the-line access to a reliable, award- winning product supply chain and offers the national product consistency that consumers have come to expect from franchises. This strategy also eases new market entry for Item 9 Labs products and creates unmatched market power across borders.

The Company encourages all interested investors to visit keepcannabislocal.com for a link to the Offering Circular and to learn how to invest in the offering. For more information on Item 9 Labs Corp. and its brands, visit item9labscorp.com. View the offering circular directly by clicking here.

“Cannabis is legal in Canada, but too many folks still stash it away when Mom comes to visit,” said Adam Fierman, Global Creative Director, Zerotrillion. “That’s the truth that sparked ‘Nothing to Hide’. Lawmakers change laws, but it takes society to change culture. So we created this brand spot for Flowr to be a nostalgic tour of stash spots, secret compartments and hideaways set to Millie Jackson’s killer 1974 track ‘I’m Tired of Hiding.’ The message is clear. It’s time for all of us to leave the hiding in the past.”

Zerotrillion and the other winners of the 2021 Clio Cannabis Awards are being honored today during a streaming event on Social Club TV airing concurrent to this release and available on-demand here. The ceremony, hosted by Tammy Pettigrew, features appearances by 2021 Clio Cannabis Lifetime Achievement Award honoree Willie Nelson, 2021 Honorary Clio Cannabis Award recipient Fab 5 Freddy and other influencers from the cannabis community.

“We’re so proud to be able to recognize the incredible creative growth that this industry is rapidly undergoing, and we enthusiastically celebrate everyone who has had a hand in driving the positive changes we’re seeing across the marketing and communications space,” Kauffman continued.

“Cannabis Science Fair” Event Will Showcase Efforts to Expand What We Know About Marijuana

MCR Labs’ inaugural “Cannabis Science Fair” at the Boston University BUild Lab on Dec. 11 will feature research projects from leading commercial and academic institutions.

BOSTON, Mass. – Local cannabis testing leader MCR Labs is partnering with the Cannabis Center of Excellence (CCoE) and Innovate@BU to host “The Cannabis Science Fair,” a first-of-its-kind event meant to showcase the work of institutions striving to expand our understanding of cannabis through research and analytical explorations.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature poster presentations from commercial and academic institutions like SCIEX, Skell Labs, the University of Vermont, Harvard University and more. A keynote address on the importance of expanding cannabis research will be given by Harvard Medical School and MGH Primary Care Physician Dr. Peter Grinspoon, and several additional Massachusetts cannabis experts and researchers will address attendees throughout the event.

“Research restrictions continue to limit what we can know for certain about cannabis, so our goal with events like this is to inform the public with data and evidence-based insights,” said Michael Kahn, MCR Labs founder and CEO. “Promoting current research efforts helps chip away at the stigma around cannabis by highlighting the important and credible work being done to expand our understanding of the plant’s potential.”

MCR Labs provides product compliance testing to licensed cannabis producers, but advancing research efforts is an important part of the company’s mission. Proceeds generated by event sponsorships from analytical testing suppliers bioMérieuxBio-Rad, and SCIEX, as well as donations being accepted during the event, will go towards funding future research and advocacy initiatives led by the CCoE, MCR Labs’ community partner for “The Cannabis Science Fair.”

“It’s not exactly surprising, but we’re still thrilled at this level of interest from businesses and researchers for a cannabis-focused event at an institution of higher education,” said Marion McNabb, CCoE founder and president. “Seeing so many abstracts and innovation submissions shows the need to shine a spotlight on the latest in cannabis science.”

“The Cannabis Science Fair” will be held at the Boston University BUild Lab IDG Capital Student Innovation Center on Saturday, Dec. 11 from 1 to 5 p.m. Anyone interested in learning more, sponsoring, or attending the event can find details on the event website.

The Cannabis Industry Leader Adds Another Tool to its Extensive Collection of Processing Machines

Spokane, WA — October 26, 2021: STM Canna, a leading manufacturer of processing machines for cannabis production, announced the latest addition to its line of offerings at MJBizCon 2021 last week: The STM Atomic Closer. The automated pre-roll machine will be the first modular and compact unit on the market, enabling sellers to propel their production cycles further than ever before.

The Atomic Closer is the only auto closing system available designed to incorporate the human touch for a true premium quality look and feel. This unique machine folds joints with a neat crown fold or dimple, instead of a twist, resulting in a much more professional looking pre-rolled joint which burns evenly.

Of the company’s latest announcement, a spokesperson for STM Canna commented, “Despite being a relatively small and affordable machine, the STM Atomic Closer packs an impressive punch through its incredible output capabilities. Compared to similar products on the market — which can cost up to seven figures, are complex to use and take up an entire room — this is a one-of-a-kind solution that will save people money, time, and labor requirements. It’s small, modular, footprint allows for simple operation, easy cleaning and infinite expandability options. Without a doubt, the STM Atomic Closer is a game-changer for the cannabis industry.”

Thanks to its ultra-compact size, the Atomic Closer can be used on tabletops across all facility types. Some unique features buyers can expect to enjoy when using the innovative machine include:

-The fastest production rate in the industry: 72 joints every 40 seconds.
-A daily capacity of more than 41,000 pre-rolls.
-An efficient folding technique that still captures the feel of human touch in every product.
-Simple operation and easy cleaning saves time and money.
-Compatible with the STM RocketBox line of commercial pre-roll machines and others.

The STM Atomic Closer is also OSHA compliant, so producers can rest easy knowing they don’t have to sacrifice safety for optimum efficiency. And, with an industry leading two-year warranty included, this powerful, USA-built pre-roll closing machine is perfect for any facility. The Atomic Closer is part of STM Canna’s growing catalog of products and turnkey processing systems.

About STM Canna: Since its establishment in 2017, STM Canna Corp. has remained the cannabis industry’s most trusted supplier of commercial pre-roll machines and bespoke cannabis grinders. With clients across 39 U.S. States and numerous international markets, the corporation is a preferred partner for a range of businesses, from small producers to the world’s largest, most well-known hemp and marijuana brands. Its latest product launch, the STM Atomic Closer, redefined industry standards by providing the best automated pre-roll machine capabilities available on the market.

Luna Technologies Introduces The Oberon Industrial-Grade Cannabis Extractor

For Immediate Release

Matches the highest hydrocarbon cannabis processing throughputs in the industry with improved efficiency and flexibility for large-scale operations

Portland, Oregon – (October 19, 2021) — Luna Technologies, a Portland-based manufacturer of hydrocarbon extraction equipment for the cannabis industry, today introduced the Oberon, a completely reimagined high-throughput hydrocarbon extractor with increased capacity to meet the needs of large-scale operators. The Oberon can process 36 pounds of fresh-frozen cannabis flower per hour, including the ability to conduct back-to-back runs with less than 60 seconds of downtime in between, matching the highest rates for a single machine in the industry. The system can also utilize an infinite number of programmable extraction recipes available through the Luna Technologies proprietary recipe book.

“The introduction of the Oberon is our response to the unprecedented demand and increasing array of subcategory preferences in cannabis concentrates and extracts,” said Jack Naito, president of Luna Technologies. “As cannabis markets mature, the sales of concentrates, including butane-based dabbable and vape products, are increasing at rates that outpace flower. As a result, manufacturers need more capacity and greater efficiency for producing the most in-demand extract products with precision.”

According to Headset, a provider of data and analytics to the cannabis industry, sales of concentrates surged more than 40 percent in 2020 within the US states of California, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington, signaling manufacturers to ramp up production and increase investment to keep pace with shifting consumer preferences in maturing markets. Headset data also suggests concentrate and vape products are estimated to have slightly larger market shares in 2022, at the expense of flower and pre-rolls, within the USA and Canada legal markets.

Meanwhile, vape sales data compiled by Arcview Market Research and Greentake from the second quarter of 2021 saw at least double digit growth year-over-year in total sales and units sold across all of the 11 largest US States and Canadian Province markets.

Improved Capacity, Efficiency, and Production Flexibility

Luna Technologies engineers designed the Oberon from the ground up for larger producers to achieve greater energy efficiency, capacity, and flexibility within the production process. Similar to IO, Oberon utilizes hydrocarbon solvent to separate and purify cannabis oil, but with a larger extraction vessel. The higher capacity thresholds enable producers to conduct more efficient reruns and to more easily extract minor cannabinoids and terpenes, as desired.

In addition to end-to-end cannabis extraction, including accessory products for color remediation and pre-processing biomass, the Oberon provides processors with the ability to conduct back-to-back runs with less than a minute of downtime in between. Luna Technologies engineers conducted rigorous testing to create a highly efficient cooling system for the larger-capacity Oberon that maintains precise solvent temperatures through each stage of processing, further reducing downtime between runs from potentially hours to seconds while improving the overall speed, quality, and volume of production.

In total, Oberon empowers hydrocarbon processors to maximize the required utility load for lower operating costs while also cutting overhead costs relating to freezer usage, storage, and excess biomass inventory.

Luna Technologies expects to deliver its first production units of the Oberon in Q1 2022.

To see the Oberon and the entire line of Luna Technologies extraction equipment and capabilities, please visit booth #C5211 at MJBizCon, October 20-22, 2021, at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas.

About Luna Technologies:

Luna Technologies engineers state-of-the-art extraction equipment for cannabis processors. Nation’s Youngest Black Cannabis Dispensary Owner Celebrates One-Year Anniversary

Against all odds, Cannabis dispensary thrives in its first year and is looking forward to more successes as its footprint expands

Elev8 Cannabis

On Oct. 15, 2021, Elev8 Cannabis celebrates its first anniversary, among many other milestones and achievements. Having opened its doors at the height of the pandemic, the Athol, Massachusetts, location is a testament and model for how social equity programs could help provide opportunities in the nation’s fastest-growing industry. With only $50,000 in startup capital, a fraction of what big corporations and funds are spending to enter this space, CEO Seun Adedeji bet on himself to not only bring his stores to life but to provide a blueprint for those that wish to do the same.

“While 2020 was an incredibly challenging year for most, we are grateful for the support that we’ve received from the community in our first year. Our success this year means so much to us and, with that, we have every intention to double our efforts to mentor and help others build their legacy within this industry,” says Adedeji.

The Athol location is the second of two Elev8 Cannabis dispensaries in operation right now, with licenses secured for two more locations set to open within the coming months. Adedeji was able to secure his own funding to open his locations, which was only half the battle. With limited capital, Adedeji slept in his Eugene, Oregon, dispensary during the early months of owning his first dispensary before moving to Massachusetts to open a second location in a less saturated market. It is important to note that the licenses obtained to open his store and future stores in Massachusetts were not part of the Massachusetts Social Equity Program (SEP) that is tasked with providing opportunity to entrepreneurs with prior non-violent convictions or without the capital. To date, Elev8 Cannabis is projected to generate over $12 million in revenue with the opening of the new stores, making way for new jobs, opportunities, and, of course, more tax revenue for the local communities.

After an incredible year, the Elev8 Cannabis team will be hosting a celebration to commemorate this pivotal milestone and to thank those that have supported the Athol location during its inaugural year. From 12 p.m. to close, guests are invited to join in the festivities. There will be music, food trucks, special guests, and more. All guests must be over 21 years of age to attend. The event will be held at Elev8 Cannabis Athol location at 243 Main St., Athol, MA 01331.

Applied DNA Announces CertainT® Platform Support for TruTrace StrainSecure™ 2.0 for Next Generation Cannabis Tagging, Testing and Tracking

Advances Partnership Aimed at Streamlining Cannabis and CBD Cultivator Production, Safety Standards, and Traceability While Increasing Brand Recognition

STONY BROOK, N.Y.–( BUSINESS WIRE)–Applied DNA Sciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: APDN) (Applied DNA or the “Company”), a leader in Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)-based DNA manufacturing and nucleic acid-based technologies, today announced that its CertainT® platform has added support for StrainSecure 2.0 by TruTrace Technologies, Inc. (CSE: TTT; OTCQB: TTTSF) (“TruTrace”) that builds on the companies’ strategic sales, marketing, and technology integration partnership to advance their vision of an integrated, cannabis product validation and authentication supply chain security solution for cannabis companies. The two companies recently announced that Flora Growth (“Flora”) will utilize their integrated solution be as part of Flora’s global cannabis product validation platform. TruTrace is the developer of a fully integrated blockchain platform for the legal cannabis, food, and pharmaceutical industries.

StrainSecure 2.0 is designed specifically for the cannabis industry and aims to demystify the seed-to-sale process for all relevant stakeholders, including producers, distributors, shippers, government agencies, and consumers, by powering commercial standards via an immutable, shared ledger. Applied DNA’s CertainT platform has been integrated into TruTrace’s StrainSecure software platform since the launch of the companies’ strategic alliance in January 2021.

“Integrating our two platforms brings a unique end-to-end solution to the maturing international cannabis industry. With regulations and compliance standards being implemented worldwide, an integrated offering of StrainSecure 2.0 and CertainT can help cannabis companies meet these standards and provide product authenticity and transparency to end-user customers,” said John Shearman, vice president of marketing and cannabis lead at Applied DNA.

Applied DNA’s CertainT platform provides the physical tagging of cannabis products using a unique molecular tag to represent the brand and product. That tag is then tested at key nodes within a domestic or international supply chain. All authentication and chain-of-custody data are captured in the CertainT portal, which integrates with the TruTrace platform and will support StrainSecure 2.0. The molecular tag can be applied to cannabis plants, oils, lotions, tablets, edibles, and packaging to serve as an immutable indicator of authenticity, origin, and provenance.

TruTrace’s blockchain-based SaaS software is designed to guarantee product quality and strain genetics throughout global supply chains. Protecting consumers and brands from contaminants and counterfeiting is a key benefit of the platform.

Robert Galarza, CEO of TruTrace, stated, “Over the past two years and after extensive work with key partners, such as Applied DNA, we’ve gained a deep understanding of the new challenges facing this industry. Version 2.0 of StrainSecure, as well as its interoperability with CertainT, will allow us to provide clients with turnkey tools specifically designed to support product quality, traceability, customer engagement, and safety.”

Most software systems utilized in the industry are fragmented and are built to manage internal operations, with very little interoperability into secondary systems. This fragmentation leads to increased administrative costs, reduced revenue, and increased risks for stakeholders. To address some of these issues, StrainSecure 2.0 will include several robust features tailored to decrease administrative costs, increase revenue, scale business operations, and highlight product quality. StrainSecure 2.0 also includes a significant number of new features, including full integration into the CertainT® platform, that facilitate higher standards and fuels business growth. One such new feature is the Enhanced Scan Page, which serves as a marketing tool for brands by providing real-time data on products at the package level.

Galarza added, “The expectations of customers, as it relates to the quality of the products they choose to consume, has never been higher. StrainSecure 2.0 focuses on promoting good actors in the industry and giving them a solution, which unifies their network, mitigates risk, ensures compliance with commercial standards, and creates a safer and more consistent marketplace for their customers. Globally focused hemp and cannabis businesses equip themselves with StrainSecure™ to scale their business.”

Zoned Properties Announces Completion of $8 Million Expansion at its Chino Valley Cultivation Facility

Press Release

Subsequent Lease Amendments to Significantly Increase Portfolio Rental Revenue & Cash Flow

68% Increase to Chino Valley Rental Revenue Effective September 1, 2021

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., September 1, 2021 — Zoned Properties®, Inc. (the “Company”) (OTCQB: ZDPY), a leading real estate development firm for emerging and highly regulated industries including legalized cannabis, today announced an amendment to the lease agreement with its significant tenant related to its cultivation facility located in Chino Valley, Arizona.

“After years of project positioning, local collaboration, and real estate entitlement efforts to make the Chino Valley project possible, we are extremely grateful to have a deal structure that benefits both our operating tenant and Zoned Properties as the owner and landlord, for long term expansion and increasing value for our shareholders,” commented Bryan McLaren, Chief Executive Officer of Zoned Properties.

“The increasing demand for regulated marijuana cultivation space and consumer products in Arizona has gone far beyond initial projections as the result of the recently approved and implemented adult-use marijuana program. Industry experts are estimating consumer demand in Arizona could increase above $1 Billion in the next few years, which will require increased cultivation capacity and square footage of entitlement and properly zoned properties such as Chino Valley.”

Transaction Highlights

  • Over $8 Million of capital has been invested to-date by the Company’s Significant Tenants at the Chino Valley Cultivation Facility. The Company’s Significant Tenant will maintain the master rights to the property and facilities through the remainder of the Lease Agreement.
  • Effective September 1st, 2021, operational square footage will increase from 40,000 square feet to 67,512 square feet, and the new base rental payments at the facility will increase 68% from $32,800 per month to $55,195 per month including three out of four new building structures in the phase one expansion that are now fully completed and operational.
  • The fourth additional building site is in completion stages for technology and operational packages along with compliance inspections. The parties expect that, upon final completion, they will enter into another lease amendment reflecting the increased operational square footage and increased base rental payments. Operational square footage would increase from 67,512 square feet to 97,512 square feet, and base rental payments at the facility would increase an additional 69% from $55,195 per month to $79,795 per month reflecting the entirety of the phase one expansion.
  • Upon completion of the entirety of the phase one expansion, the annualized base rental payments will increase to $957,550 reflecting an increase of 143% from previous annualized base rental payments of $393,600.
  • The Chino Valley property also includes an approved master plan for a phase two expansion of operational and rentable square footage that is construction ready and may proceed at the Tenant’s election. If the Tenant elects to proceed with phase two, the additional square footage of operational and rentable building space could include another 60,000 square feet for a total of 157,512 square feet of operational and rentable building space at the facility, which would equate to an annualized rental rate of $1,549,918 plus additional rental payments under the triple-net lease.

“This lease amendment is not only highly accretive for our own operational cash flow, but also marks a critical milestone for the increase in cultivation capacity and operational expansion for our Significant Tenant,” said Berekk Blackwell, Chief Operating Officer of Zoned Properties.

In some cases, forward-looking statements can be identified by words such as “believe,” “expect,” “anticipate,” “plan,” “potential,” “continue” or similar expressions. Such forward-looking statements include risks and uncertainties, and there are important factors that could cause actual results to differ materially from those expressed or implied by such forward-looking statements. These factors, risks and uncertainties are discussed in the Company’s filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Investors should not place any undue reliance on forward-looking statements since they involve known and unknown, uncertainties and other factors which are, in some cases, beyond the Company’s control which could, and likely will, materially affect actual results, levels of activity, performance or achievements. Any forward-looking statement reflects the Company’s current views with respect to future events and is subject to these and other risks, uncertainties and assumptions relating to operations, results of operations, growth strategy and liquidity. The Company assumes no obligation to publicly update or revise these forward-looking statements for any reason, or to update the reasons actual results could differ materially from those anticipated in these forward-looking statements, even if new information becomes available in the future.

COVID-19 Statement

In March 2020, the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a global pandemic and recommended containment and mitigation measures worldwide. We are monitoring this closely, and although operations have not been materially affected by the COVID-19 outbreak to date, the ultimate duration and severity of the outbreak and its impact on the economic environment and our business is uncertain. Currently, all of the properties in our portfolio are open to our Significant Tenants and their customers and will remain open pursuant to state and local government requirements. We did not experience in 2020, and to date have not experienced in 2021, any material changes to our operations from COVID-19. We do not anticipate any such material changes for the remainder of 2021. Our tenants are continuing to generate revenue at these properties and they have continued to make rental payments in full and on time and we believe the tenants’ liquidity position is sufficient to cover its expected rental obligations. Accordingly, while we do not anticipate an impact on our operations, we cannot estimate the duration of the pandemic and potential impact on our business if the properties must close or if the tenants are otherwise unable or unwilling to make rental payments. In addition, a severe or prolonged economic downturn could result in a variety of risks to our business, including weakened demand for our properties and a decreased ability to raise additional capital when needed on acceptable terms, if at all. At this time, the Company is unable to estimate the impact of this event on its operations.

New Industrial Cannabis Grinder Perfect for Pre-Rolls and Extraction

Experts in Cannabis Processing Equipment Release the new STM Mini-Revolution

Spokane, WA — [May 13, 2021]: STM Canna, a leader in high-capacity commercial cannabis processing technologies, announces the launch of its latest industry solution: The Mini-Revolution Premium Grinder

Featuring an assortment of innovative features crafted specifically for ultimate efficiency, the Mini-Revolution is set to become one of the best industrial cannabis grinders available for small and medium production facilities. With equipment that is fully manufactured in the U.S.A., those striving to increase their production capabilities can purchase the Mini-Revolution immediately, starting at starting at an affordable  $6000 USD.

Regarding the company’s latest product launch, a spokesperson for STM Canna Corp. commented, “Unlike whip-style shredders, the Mini-Revolution industrial cannabis grinder utilizes low-friction, low-heat grinding perfect for providing consistent results without degrading your product.”

Some key features that allow the Mini-Revolution to stand out from other commercial cannabis grinders include:

  • Quality Materials: The quality of a cannabis product is only as good as the quality of its production. As such, STM Canna Corp. constructed the Mini-Revolution using the highest quality of food-grade stainless steel and industrial components all assembled right here in the U.S.A.

  • Simple to Use: The Mini-Revolution was designed to be extremely user-friendly and easy to operate with minimal training.

  • Swappable Blades: Users can easily remove the grinder’s blades to clean them or replace them with one of two blade options: one for fine particle sizes and the second for coarse particle sizes.

  • Unparalleled Safety: With OSHA compliance and a built-in safe loading system and safety limit switch, the Mini-Revolution is designed from top to bottom with safety in mind.

  • Smooth Operation: As one of the best cannabis grinders in recent years, it manages to be whisper-quiet without losing an ounce of efficiency.

  • Low-temperature Grinding: The Mini-Revolution’s most compelling feature is its low-temperature grinding, which preserves the precious terpenes and cannabinoids found in cannabis products.

  • Effortless to Clean: Cleaning should not be a time-consuming process. The Mini-Revolution grinder disassembles quickly for easy cleaning to get back up and running in little time.

Compared to other, lesser industrial cannabis grinders on the market, the Mini-Revolution was designed and built specifically for the cannabis industry. Additional information about what this innovative tool has to offer can be found here

Striving for Carbon Neutrality with the Boulder County Cannabis Carbon Conscious Certification (BCCCC)

Working Towards an Environmentally-Focused, Green Market

Boulder, Colorado (April 12, 2021) – Here are the facts: Climate change is happening; Boulder County and Colorado are already experiencing its costly impacts. Indoor cannabis cultivation is energy-intensive and has the potential to exacerbate this problem, if not appropriately mitigated. Right Now. The Cannabis Conservancy and Boulder County’s Energy Impact Offset Fund (EIOF) Committee recognized the urgent need for stewardship and accountability within the current cultivation market — and so the Boulder County Carbon Conscious Certification (BCCCC) was created — with the ultimate goal of Net Zero Carbon Cannabis Cultivation.

“After a year of explosive wildfires and dangerous air quality, it is clear that Colorado communities are already paying the costs of the climate crisis. Millions of Front Range residents – especially those in historically marginalized and disproportionately impacted communities – have been suffering from exposure to ozone pollution due to these sources.” — https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/COBOULDER/bulletins/2c25a5b

The BCCCC seal allows the consumer and others in the supply chain to know that they’re supporting a cultivator who is working towards carbon neutral cannabis production. Benefits of the certification include increased consumer and public awareness and profile-boosting industry recognition. It is designed to help cultivators, by providing a step-by-step framework for strategic energy management, adequate and clear reasons for implementation guidance, and meticulous compliance support.

For more information, visit: https://cannabisconservancy.com/, https://boco.org/CannabisCarbonConsciousCertification or  https://www.bouldercounty.org/environment/sustainability/marijuana-offset-fund/ — or email info@cannabisconservancy.com to get in touch!

About The Cannabis Conservancy:

Our mission is to empower and assure that the regulated cannabis industry achieves environmental, economic, and social sustainability. The Cannabis Conservancy provides Sustainability Certification to legal cannabis organizations that adhere to Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), are free of harmful chemical inputs, utilize waste reduction methods, are energy efficient, and conserve water.

About Boulder County’s Energy Impact Offset Fund (EIOF)

Because of its proportionally significant contribution to climate change, Boulder County is requiring commercial cannabis cultivators to either offset their electricity use with local renewable energy, which now includes RenewableConnect, or pay a 2.16 cent charge per kWh. The fees from this surcharge are then placed into the Boulder County Energy Impact Offset Fund. This fund in turn, can be used to educate and support best in industry practices with regards to energy usage as well as for funding other carbon pollution reducing projects such as low income renewable energy.

STM Canna Launches Revolution Sub-Zero Grinder for Cryo-Frozen Cannabis

STM Canna Launches Revolution Sub-Zero Grinder for Cryo-Frozen Cannabis

Leading cannabis technology manufacturer releases sub-zero commercial cannabis grinder.

SPOKANE, WA, March 31, 2021 – STM Canna Corp. (https://stmcanna.com), a leading manufacturer of commercial cannabis processing solutions launches the brand new, reimagined Revolution Sub-Zero commercial cannabis grinder to U.S and global markets, adding to their line of premium processing equipment.

The Revolution Sub-Zero is specially engineered to operate in environments below -20 F / -28.9 C and features built-in temperature control and pre-heating technology.

STM Canna identified a market absence of commercial-grade cannabis grinding technology that supports today’s relevant methods of processing and extraction using low-temperature cannabis and/or conditions. The Revolution Sub-Zero addresses this need with its innovative approach aimed at providing hemp and marijuana facilities the ability to grind material in low-temperature environments that are known to further preserve cannabinoid profiles and minimize degradation.

“In our pursuit of maximizing cannabinoid preservation in grinding, we identified that a precursor to minimizing loss requires distinct cooperation between optimal starting material and the avoidance of warmer temperatures that induce the volatility of various organic cannabis compounds. The Revolution Sub-Zero is reimagined to work [with conventional dry/cured and cryogenically frozen flower] in these suitable, low-temperature settings for peak potency, flavor, and aroma.” says Jessica Ferranti, Chief Revenue Officer and Executive Vice President of STM Canna Corp.

While there is a growing selection of machinery and tools like dry ice for cryogenically freezing cannabis, the lack of technologically capable machinery to grind cryo-cannabis in the next phase of processing has been limited until now. Because cryogenics are used to avoid degradation of monoterpenes and cannabinoids post-harvest, a low-temperature grind in the Sub-Zero allows for the continuity of this type of preservation to achieve an ultimately superior cannabinoid profile and final product. This also makes The Revolution Sub-Zero cannabis grinder ideal for Live Resin, Rosin extraction, and other processing methods.

The Revolution Sub-Zero is based on STM Canna’s original design of the Revolution 2.0 commercial cannabis grinder and utilizes an extremely sharp dual-blade system which maintains maximum potency by directly slicing through flower with precise, scissor-like motions to achieve the cleanest cuts possible and the most optimal homogenous grind. Combined with this pre-existing technology, the Sub-Zero’s features further encourage degradation to an even lesser degree, making it an invaluable addition to brands seeking to increase ROI and product quality.

Toxic Chemical in Gloves Responsible for Cannabis Recall

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif.Feb. 25, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Contaminated single-use gloves were responsible for the recent recall of products from a pesticide free cannabis producer and processor. The antimicrobial chemical o-Phenylphenol, listed by the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHAA) as a compound known to cause cancer, was identified as the contaminant in the FDA compliant food grade gloves.

“Nothing ruins your day like testing your product, confident it will be clean, only to find it contaminated with some crazy, toxic chemical. The gloves were the last thing we tested, we just never imagined something sold as food safe could transfer such nastiness. The discovery was just the beginning… recalls are costly in more ways than one.” – Freya Farm

After initial approval, non-sterile FDA compliant food grade gloves are not subject to ongoing controls to ensure the reliability and consistency of raw material ingredients or quality processes during manufacturing. Opportunity exists for glove manufacturers to use cheap raw materials which lower glove durability and can introduce toxic compounds which can transfer to glove users and products handled.

The company affected by the glove contamination, Freya Farm, grows high-grade and unique strains of cannabis. They have since started purchasing gloves from Eagle Protect, who are implementing a proprietary third-party glove analysis to ensure a range of Eagle gloves are of consistent high-quality, and free from harmful contaminants, toxins and pathogens.

“Sourcing quality, third-party tested gloves, from a company our customers can trust, is assurance they are receiving the best gloves to handle their products. Sourcing from us mitigates food safety and brand reputational risks,” explained Eagle Protect CEO, Steve Ardagh.

Harmful toxins and contaminants in gloves have been identified in many peer reviewed scientific studies, which is now a real issue for companies producing consumer products, especially in industries such as organics and cannabis whose products must be clean when tested.

Single-use gloves, even those FDA compliant, can be a risk to product recalls and brand reputation. In addition, consumers of contaminated products, and staff wearing contaminated gloves are at risk of absorbing toxins, which have often been identified as causing cancer, and reproductive and hormonal damage.

Responsible sourcing is vital as poor quality, counterfeit and even reused gloves are being traded, as the Covid related demand for single-use gloves exceeds supply.

Terpene Extraction: New Solution In Final Stages of Development

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Solventless, full-spectrum terpene profiles AT SCALE

Vancouver, WA – Cannabis processors seeking quality terpene extract have long been challenged by methodology roadblocks, inconsistent results and scaling issues.

ABM Equipment of Vancouver, WA, and Marion Process Solutions, of Marion, IA, have solved these issues with an innovative design that brings scalability to solventless terpene extraction. Marion announced today that it has achieved patent pending status on the technology, which produces clear, wide-spectrum terpene oil without color-changing contaminants. The approach finally solves the problem of reliable, cost-efficient and high throughput terpene extraction that even outperforms the best CO2 methods being used.

The new system, TXM (Terp Xtract Master) Series™, is particularly ground-breaking for processors because it produces full-spectrum results at scale. Labs have long used a similar method to collect terpene profiles for grams of cannabis at time, but have not had access to scalable solutions. Early validation shows that the TXM Series technology yields a terpene profile that closely matches the original plant profile.

Cannabis and hemp producers have worked for years without success to produce clear, highly matched terpene extracts at a premium level, to function as additional revenue streams for growers, processors and retailers.

“What we’ve been able to achieve is a powerful advancement in terpene extraction technology that answers the industry’s quest for impurity-free, solvent-free clear oils,” said ABM Equipment Owner Jeff Walling.

Marion’s Development Lead, Jay Bonefas, added, “By building a solution around our field-proven Marion WaveMix ™ microwave drying and agitation technology, optimized specifically for the cannabis industry, we’re finally able to unlock the market potential for this important cannabis/hemp product category.”

While prior solutions used solvents to attract the terpenes that then required post-processing steps for removal, the TXM Series relies on microwave drying technology to vaporize the water inside the plant material which acts as a vehicle for terpene removal. The resulting terpenes then enter a condenser “cold trap” unit integrated into the system.

Marion testing of hemp samples yielded Certificates of Analysis (COA) to verify that the process preserves extractable cannabinoids in the plant material after removing the terpenes, increasing the total value of the material. This method is well suited to deterpenate “fresh frozen” material since it utilizes the water in the plant whereas other techniques require drying the material prior to extraction.

In addition to solvent-free purity, the TXM Series’ microwave technology enables a lower operating cost in the US than alternative gas-generated heat steam extraction systems and solutions that require additional solvents or CO2 costs. In addition, the TXM Series offers customers 98% more rapid throughput as it is able to finish dry material in the same vessel, for a far more scalable solution – drying 1.5 pounds of materials in 45 minutes, versus the two days it would take to hang dry.

The TXM Series is supported in the field by ABM Equipment. With nearly 20 proprietary processing equipment solutions and hundreds of active systems, ABM is one of the industry’s leading integrators and provides 24/7 service in support of their distinct clientele.
