Jaime is a founding member and former chair of the Cannabis Business Alliance, an influential trade organization that functions as the Colorado industry’s chamber of commerce, and a current board member of the National Cannabis Industry Association, where she serves as a national spokesperson for the regulated cannabis industry. Prior to entering the cannabis industry, Jaime was the executive chef of a Michelin-rated restaurant in San Francisco.

Today on the show, Bethany is joined by Emmett Reistroffer, Policy Consultant for Denver Relief Consulting. Emmett’s professional roots and passion run deep in cannabis activism, stemming from his first call to action at 19 years old when he volunteered to help multiple sclerosis patients testify at the South Dakota State Capital. From there, Emmett quickly worked his way up into a position of leadership for the local movement by speaking to the press, raising money, and inspiring volunteers. Facing some of the nation’s harshest drug laws, Emmett was able to form a non-profit organization, South Dakota Compassion, and partner with the former chairman of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society to organize a coalition of patients and advocates in support of medical marijuana. They talk about him speaking on a panel at our upcoming Cannabis Biz Summit to discuss the social use campaign, so people can learn more about his efforts. Also Emmett gives advice he has for others who want to launch a similar campaign in their region.

Fox’s background in the cannabis reform movement started in 2002, when he joined Marijuana Policy Project to help with its federal lobbying efforts. In 2005, Fox started SAFER, an organization that was critical in laying the groundwork for the campaign that eventually became Amendment64 in Colorado, which legalized cannabis for adult use. Fox also helped co-found the National Cannabis Industry Association in 2010 with just 30 original members, which has since grown to over 1200+ members.
